New GFGD app ready for download
Wow, we are so excited about the new GFGD app. It solves so many of the problems our users have been facing. While over the past months we have only made the alpha release available to a small subset of users, the beta release is now available to everyone to use. From the Review Summary page, click on the link to try the new app.

What is improved in the app?
Given your feedback as our users, we have put a lot of work to make it easier to put together a mid-week plan for your language learning between your weekly coaching sessions. The user experience is more intuitive and runs a lot faster.
Is it an app, or a webpage? It looks like a webpage to me.
Phone apps are evolving rapidly. An app is considered anything that downloads, installs and can run when you don’t have an internet connection. You can use the new GFGD app just as if it is a website, but you can also elect to download and install it locally although most features will still require you to have an active internet connection.

If you have a non-Apple device, you should be automatically given the option to download and install the app. Apple users can still use the app but will just need to bookmark the webpage that it is hosted on.
What is coming up?
Embarrassing story competition

Whenever we put ourselves out there to practice language, we are guaranteed to make embarrassing mistakes. Instead of being ashamed of our errors, let us celebrate them together! Soon, your submitted stories will participate in a monthly competition to select the most humorous stories. I’m so looking forward to reading your entries!

Practice partners
Language learning is greatly accelerated when you have a native speaker with whom you can practice conversation. Over the coming month you will notice several new features being added to the new GFGD app.
- Students will be able to invite a friend to register as their practice partner
- Practice partners will be able to view a student’s current grammar goals, Can do tasks, and receive quiz results in preparation for a meeting with the student
- Organizational accounts will be able to register practice partners on mass and provide a booking sheet to allow their students to book a session with an available practice partner at a time which suits them
Private tutors

If you have a private language tutor who you would like to give access to your language progress, we have a program in place to qualify private tutors as GFGD accredited. We are moving towards having a marketplace within GFGD with a booking sheet similar to that for Practice Partners which will be an opportunity for tutors to find more students.

Pronunciation assessment
Currently the weekly assessment only measures your grammar progress with written questions. However native speakers put significant emphasis on the authenticity of a person’s accent when making initial assessments of a person’s fluency. It is universally acknowledged that teaching pronunciation is surprisingly absent in most courses beyond the first few weeks. We aim to remedy this by providing different levels of pronunciation feedback suitable for the beginner level right through to advanced levels to make you indistinguishable from a native speaker.
Keep an eye out for our new pronunciation quiz questions coming up in the next months.
